Deepika Padukone to play Shahrukh Khan’s leading lady in Happy New Year

After a lot of speculation as to who will star opposite the Baadshah in his next home production, we are glad that we will get to see SRK and Deepika together on screen again soon. First it was Jennifer Winget Grover of Saraswatichandra fame and then it was Sushant Singh Rajput’s girlfriend Ankita Lokhande who were rumoured to play SRK’s leading lady, as Farah was looking for a fresh face.

Later, it was Katrina Kaif whom Shahrukh was rooting for, especially after their movie Jab Tak Hai Jaan did well.

Deepika has been finalised now. She debuted in SRK’s production Om Shanti Om that was directed by Farah. So she is Farah’s baby, so to speak.

Happy New Year is to go on floors in September 2014. The film also stars Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Vivaan Shah and reportedly Prithviraj who was last seen opposite Rani Mukerji in Aiyya and also in a supporting role in Aurangzeb.

Homemade food keeps Kareena Kapoor healthy

Bollywood actresses Kareena Kapoor says rather than surviving on salads and juices, she eats simple Indian food to stay fit and healthy.

"I eat only simple Indian home food sabzi, roti, dal, chawal, ghee. There are so many benefits of having ghee. My grandmother is 84 and she is still fit and looks beautiful," Kareena told reporters at an event.

"One should eat everything especially healthy and not junk food. I don't like the idea of starving. I would eat and burn it out in gym. The amount of intake is what matters," she said.

Kareena, who was size zero five years back, begins her day with a banana milk shake followed by a cup of coffee.

"I don't know where this term of size zero came from, people called it that way (size zero). I became thin for 'Tashan'. And that is because of Rujuta, I followed her instructions," she said.

The 32-year-old actor is a part of a nutrition documentary DVD film 'Indian Food Wisdom and The Art of Eating Right', by famous celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar.

Kareena reveals that she is a vegetarian. Her husband actor Saif Ali Khan, who is also part of this DVD, likes to eat meat but rarely.

"Nawabi food is rich in meat so I opt for dal or paneer while Saif eats mutton. I don't eat meat," she adds.

Kareena feels older female actors like Madhubala and others were beautiful because they ate simple food.

Deepika Padukone left Shah Rukh Khan alone to promote Chennai Express?

Shah Rukh Khan has been on his toes for the promotions of his upcoming film Chennai Express and the pressure seems to be getting on him now. Focusing on the younger brigade, Shah Rukh Khan has come up with Chennai Express Disney game to woo the kids. However, King Khan was spotted sweating hard and visibly overworked at the launch.

Bollywood Actor Shah Rukh Khan who was accompanied by director Rohit Shetty instead of Deepika Padukone, is working day and night to make his film reach the maximum audiences. King Khan has already become a favourite among the kids after his film Ra.One and what can be more attractive than a Disney game to draw their interest.

Shah Rukh is not leaving any stone unturned in pulling the crowds to the movie theatres. After promoting the movie on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, DID Supermoms, Comedy nights with Kapil and Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, he has been exploiting other means of raising the film’s popularity.

Deepika Padukone who was also working round the clock for the film’s promotions seems to be busy with her next film Ram Leela starring Ranveer Singh.
